FAQs

  1.   What does it take to become a NC Certified FF?

  • Become a member of a NC Fire Department, most cases the Volunteer Fire Departments are near one of the Community Colleges that provides the training. By joining a Volunteer Fire Department the training in many cases is provided with a few  exceptions.  Another way is to enroll in one of the Fire Academy opportunities at your local Community College.

2.  What is an EMT?

  • An EMT is an individual over the age of 18 who has completed an approved EMT program, passed the school test and passed the NC State Exam.   As an EMT you are allowed to not only perform skills that may stop severe bleeding but also trained to do CPR using AED's.  EMT's also have a list of medications that the State and Local Medical Directors allow them to administer.

          3.  What is an AEMT?
